This is an accredited teaching institution, with numerous graduate medical education programs, including the fellowship in Hematopathology, for which he serves as Director.

Professional pathology services for the hospital system are provided by Carolinas Pathology Group, which includes 16 pathologists. Dr. Banks is a partner in the Group.

Outpatient biopsy pathology services are handled by Celligent Diagnostics, headquartered in the northern part of Charlotte adjacent to University Hospital, another facility in the Carolinas HealthCare System. Dr. Banks is President of Celligent Diagnostics.

Dr. Banks regularly visits the Department of Pathology at UNC-Chapel Hill where he holds an appointment as Clinical Professor of Pathology. There he presents both formal didactic lectures and microscopic participatory conferences with residents-in-training. His archives include slide materials selectively retained from more than 10,000 of his most educative previous case studies.
