Peter Banks M.D., is a highly experienced pathologist who deals with patient biopsies (Surgical Pathology) and specializes in diseases of the blood and the immune system.
A graduate of Harvard Medical School, he first served as an intern in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina and then did residencies in Pathology at the National Cancer Institute, Duke University and the University of Minnesota.
On the staff of the Mayo Clinic
in Minnesota for thirteen years,
Dr. Banks rose to the faculty level of full professor and gained national and international recognition for his expertise in hematologic pathology.
From 1989 to 1996 he was the Townsend Professor of Pathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and served as President of the Society for Hematopathology from 1996 to 1998.

A July 12, 2002 press release from Carolinas Medical Center noted that Dr. Banks was independently recognized as "one of America's best doctors".
